Jane Graverol Belgian, 1905-1984

Biography

Jane Graverol was born in Brussels to a Breton mother and a Bourbonnais father, a pre-Raphaelite illustrator who frequented Verlaine and the anarchists. She attended the courses of the academy of fine arts in Brussels and exhibited for the first time at eighteen. An old family from Nîmes, as can be seen on a street that carries its patro-nyme, a marriage gave him Belgian nationality.

In 1949, she met the surrealists: Magritte, Colinet, Goemans, Scutenaire; then, three years later, that of Mariën and Nougé. In the meantime, she had founded the group «Temps Mêlés», in collaboration with André Blavier who, since 1952, publishes a magazine under the same name.
