Gallery Retelet is proud to participate for the second time at TEFAF.
After having celebrated the Belgian Surrealist movement in 2024 we decided for 2025 to extend our surrealist selection with a glimpse of its legacy in America. Three artworks by Alexander Calder, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring will show how the surrealist movement have influenced those artists.
Calder took part in surrealist exhibition in the twenties, when Andy Warhol played with pre-existing image and divert them from their original context. Haring on his side, explained that the early surrealist collages of Magritte inspired him with his collage as well as organizing his art around well know everyday images and subjects, making it so popular.
Surrounding this selection will be several surrealist artists from the first and second generation of the movement, such as Magritte, Graverol, Baes, Bury, Labisse and Mariën.
